Athletics Update 9/14 – 9/19


  • Football righted the ship on Friday, defeating Oakdale. The Saints traveled up to Northern California to take on Oakdale from Sacramento. The Saints came out ready to go, scoring 20 points in the first quarter. Each time the Mustangs tried to close the gap, the Saints responded with a big stop on defense and put more points on the board. The final score was 38-21. Heading into the bye week, the Saints are 3-2.

  • Girls Volleyball played two games this past week. In a non-league matchup against St. Margaret’s, the Saints won in 4. Each set was a grind, but the girls persevered and pulled off the victory. In league, the girls defeated Canyon on the road in a tough environment. It was a back-and-forth game with the two teams splitting the first four sets. In the fifth, the Saints prevailed, winning 15-7.

  • Girls Flag Football competed in their first league game of the season last week. The Saints traveled to Yorba Linda. It was a tight game where both offenses shone. In the end, the Mustangs came out with the victory 19-27.

  • Girls Golf had a big week. They started the week winning the Walnut Tournament with a total of 358 (-12)! This was a program record for the best combined score! They then hosted Mater Dei and defeated the Monarchs by 4 strokes. To end the week, they played against one of the top teams in the Southern Section, Santa Margarita. Despite shooting their best round, the girls still lost.

  • Girls Tennis went 3-0 last week! The Saints played three really tough opponents. Against Irvine and Laguna Beach, the Saints won two gritty games by two each. To end the week, the Saints defeated Santa Margarita 12-6.
