Athletic Weekly Update 9/28 – 10/3


  • Football got a huge league opener win against Tustin on Friday! It was a defensive showdown as both offenses were stymied by the opposing defense. However, the Saints found a solid run game to help secure a 21-7 victory over the Tillers.

  • Girls Volleyball started the second half of league play last week. The Saints battled against a solid Yorba Linda team. The two teams exchanged sets before the Saints gritted out the fifth set to take the victory.

  • Girls Flag Football played one league game last week. They lost a tough one to Cypress. The defenses for both teams played well, but the Cypress offense did just enough to secure the 6-12 victory.

  • Girls Golf had an exciting week. First, they defeated league opponent Troy to remain undefeated in league. Then the Saints had a rematch against Santa Margarita. This time favor fortuned the Saints. The Saints played their best round of the season, shooting a 171 to defeat the top team in the Southern Section by 1.

  • Girls Tennis won their only game of the week. The Saints played league opponent Troy. It was a tight match but the Saints came out on top winning 11-7.
  • Cross Country traveled up to Oregon to compete in the Stan Goodell Invitational. Both boys’ and girls’ teams came out victorious, winning the invitational! Both teams had four athletes finish in the top 10, and the boys had the individual champion, Aaron Chen, and second-place finisher, Bennett Leung.

  • Boys Water Polo played two games last week. They lost both but competed hard against two of the very top programs in Brea Olinda and San Juan Hills.

  • Surf competed in their first meet of the season on Saturday. It was a fun competition against a great Laguna squad. The Saints had great showings in their heats, with Patrick Bower having the top finish of fourth in the bodyboard division.
