Saints Weekly Athletic Update 10/13 – 10/18

Football won big in their homecoming game on Friday! The Saints started the scoring early and never stopped, putting up 56 points against La Habra. The defense was once again lights out, only allowing 21 points, and even contributed to the scoring with a pick-six. The Saints are now 8-0 on the season and are currently ranked 15th in CIF-SS!

Girls Volleyball are the Freeway League Champions! In the deciding game on Tuesday against Foothill, the Saints came out victorious, sweeping the Knights. After starting slow and being down big early, the Saints came roaring back in the first set to pull out the win. From there, the Saints took care of the final two sets to win the game and be crowned League Champions! They finished the season 24-2. The playoff brackets were announced over the weekend, and the girls were placed in Division 1, the first time in program history. They will travel to Harvard-Westlake on Wednesday for the first round.

Girls Flag Football The Crean Lutheran girls flag football team closed out their season this week, falling to Canyon (12–19) before earning a dominant win over Azusa (39–0). The Saints finished the year 11–13 overall and 2–6 in league.

Boys Water Polo defeated league opponent Brea Olinda 21-11 during the week to stay undefeated in league. With one league game remaining, if they win, they will be outright league champions! Over the weekend, they played in the Steve Pal Tournament. It was a tough tournament where they competed against all playoff teams. They went 1-3 with their win being over Beckman.

Girls Tennis won their only match of the week against Troy 11-7! The singles players won eight of the nine sets to help secure the victory. The Saints are 11-3 on the season and 6-0 in league with only two matches left.

Girls Golf went 1–1 this week, defeating Troy (195–225) and falling to Santa Margarita (205–178). The Saints are now 8–2 overall and 6–1 in league, with one match remaining against the top team in the standings to decide the league title. Crean Lutheran is currently ranked No. 7 in the CIF-Southern Section as they look to close out a strong regular season.

Cross Country competed in the OC Championship Invite on Friday. The runners worked hard and persevered, leading their team to solid placings. Both the boys and girls teams finished in sixth place.
