Saints Weekly Athletic Update 12/22 – 1/4


Saints Athletic Update from over Christmas Break.

 

  • Boys Basketball competed in the Damien Classic over break and was placed in the highest division. The Saints won their first two games against top teams from other states, Owyhee and O’Connor. The Saints made a remarkable comeback against Owyhee and won 62-59. Against O’Connor, the game went back and forth throughout, but the Saints pulled out the victory, 61-60. They lost their final two games against Redondo Union and Crespi, finishing fourth in the tournament. They played their first league game of the season against Cypress and won by 12. It was a tough-fought game that was close in the first half, but the Saints found their stride in the second half, expanding the lead and ultimately winning 72-60. They played Crossroads in the Real Run Classic, where they won 60-51.

 

  • Girls Basketball played in the Ramona Winter Classic around Christmas. The Saints won all four games and were champions of the tournament! They defeated Rubidoux, Silverado, and Poly/Riverside. In the championship game, they played Ramona. After falling behind early in the game, the girls quickly rallied and won 54-38! Jane Moyer was named MVP of the tournament, and Elise Randolph and Stacy Echtenkamp were all-tournament. In their first league game, they competed against Villa Park and lost. The Saints bounced back and defeated Faith Lutheran with a solid all-around performance, winning 48-34.

 

  • Boys Soccer had its first league game of the season against Cypress. The Saints took a lead right before halftime on a corner kick. In the second half, they gave up two goals, losing 1-2.

 

  • Girls Soccer played their first league game against Esperanza. It was a tough-fought match that ended in a 0-0 tie.
