‼️SAINTS ATHLETIC WEEKLY UPDATE‼️
⚽️Girls Soccer got two good results to keep their playoff hopes alive. They tied Sonora in a goalless match. Against Pacifica, they won with some great defense and a clutch goal, finishing 2-1. They are currently tied for 3rd place and need to either win or tie and have Sonora tie their final game as well.
🤽♀️Girls Water Polo are Freeway League Champions! With their win over La Habra, the girls went undefeated in league and are now back-to-back league champions! It was a great game against La Habra, where the Saints took the early lead and never let it go; they won 9-6. The following day they travelled to Santa Margarita and defeated them in a revenge game 7-6. The Saints were placed at the top of Division 3 and will host Citrus Valley in the first round!
🏀Boys Basketball are the Crestview League Champions! They won both league games last week to win league outright. Against La Habra, it was another battle. The Saints got off to an early lead and kept it throughout the game. Crean Lutheran kept feeding their big men and attacking the rim, which was too much for La Habra, winning 76-67. The game against Foothill was Senior Night for the Saints. It was a great game in which all the Seniors were recognized. The win over the Knights allowed the Saints to be outright league champions, with a final score of 78-65. Playoff brackets will be released on February 7.
🏀Girls Basketball earned their first league victory against El Dorado. The Saints fought hard against a feisty full-court press from the El Dorado team. The final minutes went back and forth, but the Saints hit more shots and sank their free throws to win 39-35. For Senior Night they played Esperanza. The girls battled and honored their Seniors but fell short 36-46.
⚽️Boys Soccer earned a huge victory over El Dorado last week. They defeated the top-ranked team in league who hadn’t lost yet. The Saints played excellent defense all game and scored two great counter attack goals. The final score was 2-1. The Saints lost a high-scoring match to Troy 2-3.
